About WrdCntr.com

WrdCntr.com is a focused set of live text counters — words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, and reading time — that run entirely in your browser. It is published by Sumvia, the team behind the Sumvia.net tool network, alongside two sister writing tools: WordCntr.com (fast everyday counting) and WordCounterPro.ai (deep writing analytics).

Counting rules, stated openly

Every counter uses documented, Unicode-aware rules — hyphenated words count once, accented letters and non-Latin scripts count properly, sentences split on ending punctuation, paragraphs on blank lines. Where a rule has edge cases (abbreviations, headings), the methodology page says so plainly rather than pretending perfection.

Your text never leaves your device

This matters more for a text tool than for a calculator: what you paste here may be unpublished, personal, or confidential. All counting happens locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored, there is no account, and the page keeps working offline once loaded. This is a deliberate design constraint of every Sumvia site.

Tested logic

The counting engine is implemented as small, typed functions with automated tests — the classic pangram counts, Unicode words, emoji handling, sentence and paragraph edge cases, and reading-time math are all pinned by tests, and the engine is shared verbatim across our three writing sites so a fix in one immediately serves all.
